COLLECTING INFORMATION

Collection of these fossils is done by removing them from the shale with a hammer--splitting or breaking off pieces of the rock to reveal the trilobites either inside or on the surface. We will provide you with instructions on how to do this. We provide a limited number of buckets and hammers, or you may want to use your own. For rock hammer purchases, we recommend Rockpick Legend Co., Salt Lake City.  Order from their website:  www.erockshop.com.  The most common species you will be looking for is Elrathia Kingi.  There are many other species you will find on our several large acres of the best trilobite hunting on the Planet! Some of these are Asaphicus Wheeleri, Olenoides nevadensis and Alokistocare harrisi. There are several other species and creatures you will find in our quarry by splitting the rock or by simply wandering around and finding many laying all over the ground!
